Tale 3: The Vaults of the Goblin King (part 3)

"The goblin king wouldn't happen to be anywhere around here, would he?" Jelan asked as the group made their way through a secret passageway one of the fighters had found.

"He left to go hunting before you came, and left strict instructions for his army to attack us if we tried to escape." the second fighter explained. "I only hope to Erinnor that we can escape before he returns."

"Well, so far, this passageway appears to lead to a way outside." Loras noted as the group climbed up from the passageway into another room, which led into a short hallway and another open door.

Arran peered through the open doorway into a broad, pillared hall. The columns of stone were carved in the shape of tree trunks, and appeared to be placed at random like trees in a forest. Stone root systems crawled out into the floor and marble branches expanded across the ceiling. He could even see a few carvings of small bird Pokemon and Parchirisus. Beautiful as they are, the sculpting doesn't appear elven, and it's nothing dwarves would carve. he thought.

"Are we in a forest?" Jelan asked as he, Loras, and the fighters arrived some moments later.

"Not necessarily in a forest, but a training room designed to look like one." Arran replied before a yowl-like noise prompted him to draw his sword as a large band of goblins with daggers charged into the room.

"Glacier Stomp!" One fighter stomped down onto the floor, making an icicle impale one of the goblins. The whistle of a spinner gliding to its target came next as another goblin stumbled backwards from the impact.

"Whirlwind Touches Down on the Plain!" The second fighter went barreling into three more goblins with a hard spinning kick. One goblin, angered from the attack, retaliated by trying to stab the fighter's arm, but only managed to graze its target's hand. Arran, meanwhile, countered his opponent's attack with a beat parry, sending him stumbling backwards.

Jao wiisha nes chiel com yutuul... Arran sang, summoning a blue beam of light from his blade that incinerated the helpless goblin.

"Nice shot!" Loras called as she heaved another spinner, knocking the last goblin unconscious.

"Let's move on before more goblins come!" Jelan suggested as he let the way out.

A flurry of Zubats suddenly flapped through the doorway, their screeching barely audible as they careened past the group's heads. They flapped past them and into the rooms and halls beyond. The room from which they came seemed barren at first glance, but then Jelan spotted a rock that looked loose. "I think I found our way out!"

But before Jelan could attempt moving it, he heard Arran sing Jao wiisha nes chiel com yutuul... again, making the loose rock roll out of the way, exposing sunshine and plains.

"We made it! We're free!" the third fighter cried as she led the way onto the plains....

Later, at the Northern Light Dojo...

"Arran Seluna, Jelan Mirana, and Loras Kimbore....words cannot express how grateful I am for how you rescued three of our students." the dojo master smiled. "Erinnor knows what the goblins had planned for them..."

"We did not rescue them alone, Master Hayato." Arran explained. "The girls themselves proved more than capable of getting out on their own if we had not arrived."

Master Hayato smiled. "As is befitting of Suicune--he uses any resource he has to his ends. But as no brave deed should go unrewarded, here is the gold and the holy scrolls, as I promised." The other students cheered as Jelan accepted a large bag and a scroll box....
