The blonde haired virte tried again to nudge her sleeping twin sister awake. Ahva...

Gac, eva? the other virte huffed as she stretched and adjusted her viara.

Tokyu esi hin. the first girl wheezed, gesturing to the sun peeking over the hills. Ias!.

Toto... the other twin sighed as she climbed out of bed.

After changing into their ceremonial robes, the girls noticed the plate containing their breakfast left on a small platform, likely so the sage's attendant wouldn't see the twins without their viaras on. Meal times were one of the few times the twins, Tiana and Chiana Avion, could remove their viaras--and even then, no one could see them, for seeing a virte without their viara was seen as a disgrace.

Chiana was first to remove her viara for a few precious minutes of speaking the common tongue as opposed to the Wind-Speech. "Next time, try not to bug me--I was tired last night." she began, the small wind gusts that came from her mouth making the curtains ruffle.

"Sorry..." Tiana replied, the gusts coming from her mouth making the curtains in the room flutter even more. "You know how Lady Delana is about our being awake at a certain hour..."

"I know--I was waiting for the temple bells to toll the eighth hour before I awoke." Chiana explained.

Breakfast passed without further incident, and after chewing some greenmint, the viaras went back in, and the twins emerged from their chambers, down the stairs, and into the main prayer hall, where the sage, a beautiful wavy haired woman, was finishing her morning prayers.

Aho eh dova, Ato. both girls whispered before bowing with respect towards their mistress.

The woman turned to see the twins and smiled. "Good morning, you two...would you two like to blow the Wind of Protection today?"

Ido! Tiana "replied"--since their mistress had two other pairs of virte, it wasn't very often the two of them got to perform the ritual--firing twelve bursts of wind from their viara as a show of the light goddess' protection.

Buh Ato, wa ako kova? Chiana asked.

"Jedon and Treve are switching with you--they offered to do this morning's service so you two can blow the Wind." Delana replied. "They'll blow the Wind this afternoon while you do the service."

Dove ah vatho. the twins replied.

"I'll tell them you give your thanks." Delana smiled. "For now, you two need to get into position on the Spire."

Toto! the twins replied before hurrying off to the stairwell leading to the Spire...
