The Emerald Demon Portal, part 1

"The wizard Sylvanus Ashmourne telepathically warns you of a third demon portal." Clemont begins. "He begs you to seek out and destroy it, as Iridon will suffer tremendously if demonic forces invade...."

In the fantasy world, we join the group as they approach some temple ruins. "Once again, you set out to put an end to this infernal threat." Clemont narrates via voiceover as Wizard Ash leads the way into the ruins. "You follow Sylvanus' directions to a dilapidated temple in the Northlands. The area is barren and wasted and the temple entrance shows signs of having been recently disturbed. As you enter, cold flickering lights illuminate the interior."

Just then, Valkyrie Bonnie is surprised by a gaggle of sprites. Wizard Ash evades an ice sprite's spell before charging a massive fireball. "Star fire, awake and deliver your judgement! Firaga!"

"Good thinking, Ash...I don't think sprites are vulnerable to arrows." Knight Misty comments as a lightning sprite evades a Sakura Blade. "Although if you want to try an elemental arrow, be my guest."

"Enduring light, shield from roaring magic!" Priest Serena commands, the gold aura of protection forming around the group just as an ice sprite tries to freeze Valkyrie Bonnie. Inspired, Priest Serena charges a haste spell. "Layer upon layer make your mark now...Haste!"

The haunting melody of Minstrel Brock singing the Song of Joy some moments later, strengthening Priest Serena's magical shield even more. Valkyrie Bonnie easily cuts the sprite that tried to freeze her in half, while Wizard Ash melts another with a fire arrow some moments later. "Well! Sprites ARE vulnerable to elemental arrows!" he tells Knight Misty as he readies an Earth Arrow for a lightning sprite.

Rekriato me... Minstrel Brock continues, every note from Satakieli becoming a beam of light that batters the sprites around him.

"Are those light beams based on the musical scale?" the real Bonnie asks as her valkyrie self narrowly avoids getting zapped by a lightning sprite.

"They are, actually...the higher the note on the scale, the brighter they are and the further they are on the spectrum." the real Brock explains. "This is because red has a lower wavelength than blue."

"I see--assuming red is do, the rest of the colors match the musical scale!" the real Bonnie cries.

"And the next higher do starts at red again." the real Brock adds as Knight Misty jumps to avoid an ice sprite's spell. "This way, I can simultaneously be doing damage and buffing you guys."

Wizard Ash is suddenly zapped by a lightning sprite, but the tiny bolt is static compared to Pikachu. He aims a shot as the same sprite tries to zap Valkyrie Bonnie and fires...

"Though long abandoned by its original owners, the temple shows signs of recent habitation." Clemont narrates the aftermath. "Careful examination of the room reveals distinctly human looking footprints. You now suspect that a human force is working in concert with these demons."

He then asks the group. "The question is, who would do such a thing?"

"Team Rocket!" Ash grins, pleased with himself. "Or at least their fantasy counterparts."

Misty, however, is not impressed. "You think every bad thing that happens is caused by Team Rocket."
