Serenading the Sunrise

Bebebe-beep...bebebe-beep, bebebe-beep... sang the alarm clock in Dorm #25, prompting the black haired boy sleeping in the modest bed to reach out and turn the alarm off. He knew he had to get up soon, but at the same time, he knew he had a full day ahead of him as one of the Emerald Troupe's newest performers, and so any extra sleep he could get was priceless.

A green flash of light got his attention as a sprite with green music staff-like hair materialized before him. "Good morning, Sleeping Beauty..." she smiled as the boy sat up in bed. "How's it feel to finally be a part of the celebrated Nanairo Company with your childhood friend Serena, Ash?"

"It's still sinking in..." Ash replied as he climbed from bed and changed into a white shirt, black pants, and a loose red jacket.

"Serena told me to tell you now--Brock has a very...." The sprite paused to think of a polite way to describe Brock to Ash. "...exuberant personality. In fact, every morning he will wake up before anyone else, and sing to the sunrise."

"What do y--!"was as far as Ash got before he heard a familiar voice singing in Italian. Luce brillante di stelle, fari luminosi lassù,

The sprite grinned. "Right on time..."

"I don't know whether he takes voice lessons or what, but he's GOOD!" Ash gasped as the voice continued...

"I don't have a clue what any of that meant, but I could listen to that all day!" Ash cried.

"That's only a sampling of the languages he knows well enough to sing in..." Serena replied as she arrived in the room. "He is also known to sing in Spanish, French, Gaelic, and a few others I'm probably forgetting."

She preceded to present Ash with a sparkling red, silver and gold costume that resembled what one would wear in a marching band. "Here is your first official costume--Ruby Parade."

"Thanks?" Ash replied--the only band he had ever played in was a rock band. "Does this mean we'll be learning instruments?" He pictured himself having to wear Ruby Parade and march with a tuba.

Serena giggled. "Oh no...if you already know how to play something that's seen in a marching band, you can play that."

Ash heaved a sigh of relief. Good thing I packed the trumpet...
