A Song for a Master

The sun was high overhead as Ash and his companions arrived in Slateport City. Ash led the way, with Pikachu basking in the sun from his shoulder. Brock was next, reading over the "Things to Do" section in the Slateport chapter of the Houen guidebook, and May and Max followed not far behind--May snapping pictures all the while of the Wingulls circling above them, the ships in the harbor, and the bustling marketplace.

"It says here that the idol Lisia and her band, the Cloudwings, perform daily concerts by the Contest Hall." Brock read from the guidebook, showing the others a picture of a teal haired girl in a sparkling blue and white costume dancing with three other girls in identical costumes as a rock band played in the background. "Before and after every show, they are also available for pictures and autographs--meet the fab four, as well as Lisia's Pokemon--Ali and Aida."

"I know them!" May smiles. "That's usually their standard costume, but they have thousands of different outfits--and even Aida gets in on the fun!"

"Which one's Aida?" Ash wondered, piqued in a picture of a female Pikachu with a black mark on her tail in an identical costume to her master."

"Aida's the Pikachu--she has exact miniature versions of all her master's costumes." Brock explained. "Part of the fun is guessing what she'll wear."

Just then, May spotted a stage by the contest hall, where she spotted Lisia and her three backup singers dancing along to a driving melody. "There they are!"

"Let's listen!" Max suggested. He led the way into the crowd, just as the three backup singers sang Ooh, ooh, mood I'm in...

Off I go in search of adventure, Lisia sang again.

On the mood I'm in! all four girls sang to end the song.

"They're good!" Ash smiled as he applauded.

"I'd love to have The Red Masters open for them one day..." Brock sighed dreamily as the square rang with applause.

May shot Brock a warning look, but onstage, the three backup singers spot Ash. Hey, babe! they sing, starting another song.

Tell me what are you tryin' to prove? Lisia sings as she kneels down and looks into Ash's confused eyes.

"Nothing, really?" Ash stammers--he isn't sure what to make of the beautiful idols and their song.

Ash's heart is racing and he is sweating profusely as the song ends. "T-thanks?" he finally stammers, to thunderous applause.

"That's a first...I don't think Ash has been sung to by an idol..." Brock muses.

"I think Lisia likes you!" May giggles, making Ash blush as another song begins...
